Blue Heron---Self-reflection

“Heron medicine is the power of knowing the self by discovering its gifts and facing its challenges. It is the ability to accept all feelings and opinions without denying any emotion or thought.

Heron flies over those who are unaware of who they are and where they belong in the world. Gently dropping a blue father to them, Heron asks that they follow their intuition and being the empowering journey of self-realization.

If the great Blue Heron has flown into your cards today, it is urging you to dive into the watery world of feelings to seek your truth.

Heron teaches you to develop your self reflective skills so that you may come to know yourself in an intimate way. Looking at yourself through the filmy lens of self-importance, the cloudy perception of low self-worth, or the myopic eyes of self-pity, you will never understand your true potential or appreciate the opportunities that appear.”

From Medicine Cards, by Jamie Sams and David Carson

I pulled this card this morning. I am in the process of applying for a glass grant that will assist in the funding for a magnificent glass needle sculpture. I normally pull a card, thinking of others, wondering how this or that relationship is going.  However, today- it was about me. Then when I saw the card, and read its meaning…I laughed.

I love energy and connecting the dots. The blue heron is at the lake I sail at. It flies across my path regularly.

I hope you have time today to reflect on you. You are magnificent, the time you give to me. I adore my friends here on Facebook and you Loves that read my blog.  Thank you for the time you give me, I am aware of how limited the day seems, the hours rush by.

And you give me you—by reading this. Wow! I am blessed to have you in my life. Thank you Sweet friend.

I will be catching the wind in my sails today, gliding me along…and watching the blue heron and think of you.

Daddies and iced coffee

Iced coffee graphic created by Judith Parsons 2015
Thank you google images for the photo.
Happy Tuesday Beautiful Friends and Family!

We all know one of the major perks of going camping is coming home and appreciating how good your tiny little apartment is. Less is more these days. As I was dumping my plastic ice tray of frozen cubes into a bag, it occurred to me how I was coming full circle.

As a child most of us used ice trays. The automatic ice maker was something my parents bought after I went to college. So, for most of my life- if I desired a icy cold beverage it required breaking open a tray of ice cubes.

I bought a plastic old fashioned ice cube tray. My apartment in San Francisco is an older building, it has no elevator nor does it have newer freezers with automatic ice makers.

It is a simple thing, modern conveniences, air conditioning, ice makers, elevators, and screened windows. I am laughing at my list. Yet, opening that tray of ice made me feel really RICH. It is the simplest of luxuries, my European friends don’t understand my obsession with ice.

I can remember my father drinking his iced coffee, the sugar would settle at the bottom of the glass. He would pick up his glass and swirl the ice around. It is so clear in my minds eye. It brings tears to my eyes. God, how I miss him.

That was the best part, the last swallows of iced coffee, all sugary and yummy. I made ice coffee in celebration of my ice tray and my dad, I smiled and hummed the song “Summertime” the song my father taught me.

You remember the words:
“Summertime and the living is easy… cat fish are jumpin and the cotton is high.
Oh, your daddy is rich and your mom is good looking. Hush little baby -don’t you cry.

One of these mornings, you are gonna rise up singing…
You’ll spread your wings and you will take to the sky.
Until this morning, there is nothing can harm you,
With daddy and momma standing by.”

I imagined you sang along in your head, as you read the words. I raise my iced coffee to the simple things, to daddies singing to their daughters, to sugar at the body of your ice coffee to those sweet sugary last gulps of paradise.

It is the simple things.

Woooohooooo!! Soaring!!

Red-tail messages!! Wooohoooo!!

Ages ago, while working at the Monterey Herald newspaper, I worked with a lovely friend, Jill Jackson (waving) who introduced me to “Medicine Cards” by Jamie Sans and David Carson.

At lunch one day we walked outside and sat underneath the trees. I remember pulling the salmon card. I remember the sun upon her face, I remember her reading the words. It has stayed with me for many years.

You probably have heard me mention the lessons. Well, this morning while talking with Anita (waving) we pulled two cards. She pulled the butterfly, which means transformation and I pulled the salmon, which means wisdom/inner knowing. I haven’t pulled the salmon in a long time. Every blue moon it would appear, but generally speaking— I just haven’t pulled it.

All day long people have been posting butterfly sort of posts. A metal sculpture, a lovely poem about a woman awakening with butterfly wings and another lovely post about the gentleness of love being like a butterfly. I love it when these signs happen, it is as if the universe is agreeing with us and letting us know we are indeed transforming.

Today at the lake, there was a glorious red tail hawk that kept appearing.  The red tail hawk is my favorite totem animal. I dreamed a giant hawk carried me into the sun ages ago. I have picked up red-tail hawks that have been killed by cars, and made them into metal sculptures.

Today, I felt like the red-tail hawk was trying to tell me something. She flew over to the tree right beside me, looked directly at me and was singing her notes to me. I looked up and addressed her: “Hello Beautiful.” She turned her head like she was listening and kept singing to me.

I sang back and thanked her for visiting me. ALL DAY LONG..I kept wondering what in God’s green earth the hawk was telling me…THEN it hit me…My nephew’s wife was due. So I checked his Facebook page and sure enough—THEY had a babe girl!!

WhewWeeee!!! That hawk was God’s messenger, telling me that a new important energy was born into this world. I am grinning as I write this. I know my mom, Annette Anderson, is pleased to high heaven, that she is remembered by her grandson. I imagine Annette has been singing her heart out in celebration, letting all the angels know about this new energy!!

Welcome to the world little Freyja Annette Anderson!! May you be grounded with roots that keep you strong, may you have wings that take you into the sun and may you have a heart that is fragile and vulnerable enough to write poetry and a heart strong enough to withstand life’s tough lessons.

I believe in the energy of love and light. I think we ALL are connected like strings of energy. We criss-cross and connect and are weaving a safety net of love between us all.

The red-tail hawk was my sign that I am on the right track. Just keep forging ahead, keep creating art that sings, like that magnificent red-tail hawk…Keep soaring sweet loves…

We got this!!
Wooohooooooo!!

Happy Friday! A great day to be born!

Dancing to the wild drumming!!

I walk into my room and open my window…Aw-w-w-w-w- the wild drumming of China town. I smile and start doing my own wild woman version of African dancing. Picture a silver haired woman lifting knees high up into the air, picture her also shaking her hips every time the drum rings out…picture me laughing.
I can not tell you why, or what has happened. Perhaps it is finally accepting San Francisco as my home now. I have a routine that is familiar, I am learning my way around town.
In fact, I am so proud of myself, getting from China town all the way out to Lake Merced via bus and subway!

I have become one of the runners —thrilled to catch a bus. It is true San Francisco will make you strong. Either from walking up hills or running after buses. One way or another, you WILL become stronger.

My little junior Captains sigh heavily when I bring up the subject. Become stronger, taking responsibility for your body. Many of them want to capsize their sailboat, they do, then at the end of the day, they discuss their adventure.

“What was the hardest thing to figure out?” I ask them.

“Getting back into the boat.” Is always their response. Hm-m-m-m-m-m.
Then I ask why. And they admit, they are tired and too weak to raise themselves out of the water.

Eureka! We have come to a glorious moment. This is when I suggest, perhaps they start doing some basic strengthening exercises. Next summer I expect them to be stronger.

They will be.

Every thing is energy, it pushes us gently at first, then it settles upon us, the idea cultivates and finally we accept life as is or we make changes. There is doing or not doing. And both are equally important.

I work really hard and I play really hard. When I work- I expect everybody to be just as productive. When I play, like now, taking the time to write you, my sweet Luvs, then I truly play. Speaking of which- I am going to keep dancing to the wild drumming outside my window!!

May you find time to dance—smile—laugh and be a little crazy!!

Wooooooohoooooo!! Life Is fabulous!

John O' Donohue--Love

My Irish Soul Sister, my beloved Anita introduced me to John O’ Donohue. His words have roots to the center of the earth and branches that touch the sun.

Deepak and O’ Donohue  both share the notion of the highest self. Deep down inside -or perhaps at our highest pinnacle, there is a “self” that is mysterious, that knows what is good for us, knows our deepest secrets.

This silent keeper of the self is calm and collected, grounded yet soaring. This self cradles you against her bosom and keeps you safe. This is the lover of you…You are never alone.

The wind agrees with my words, the lace curtain bellowing in agreement.

Smile. Know you are Love.

Next floor up!! (Passed mid-point review!!!)

Original art created by Judith Parsons 2015
Design for sculpture.
The needle has hit the bullseye!!!
Wooooohoooooo!!!

Thank the Dear Lord! I passed my mid-point review!!!

Let us all lift our hands into the air and sing our praises to the heavens!!

I am so thrilled to be entering the second half of my graduate degree. I love the Academy of the Arts University in San Francisco!! Lawrence Noble is an amazing Director!! Margaret Keelan and Barry Baldwin attended my review and I am honored and thrilled to know them and work beside them upon my Spiritual Quest to become a Masters of Art in Sculpture.

I am focusing on perfection and precision. I am hitting the bullseye with the needle of my compass. I am also weaving in others fabrics of light into my own. It is what we do- we assimilate, we take new knowledge and add it to our previous cognitive river. We FLOW into one another, we sew our safety nets of love and light into and around one another.

WE are Woven into one another…by thought and love.

We are light.

We are love.

We are lingering touches.

We are laughter.

We are LEARNING!!!

Everything is a lesson/ blessing!!!!

Wooohoooooo!!! I love you are!! LIFE is  a miracle!! I am soaring beside you all!

Sacred geometry, sailing, soaring

Original Sacred Geometry Art Created by:
Judith Parsons 2015
This has been a glorious birthday week! My daughter and her beau came into town and on Friday they came to work with me. I am teaching sailing on a lake in San Francisco. I have a charmed life! (giggling)
I let the spirit move me and "Bod-da-boom…bod-a-bing…the job happened."

I am blessed beyond measure! I have children who age ten years in one week. They learn to be responsible, courageous and they learn to see the wind. It is a glorious event on Friday, when I can send all the wee ones out on the sailboats and not have to hold their hand. They are junior Captains, I hope they start keeping their Captain’s logs. Writing about their life experiences.

Captain Kirk begins:

“Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.”

To be a teacher to young impressionable minds is a glorious thing. One thing they learn: the body is a heavy thing to raise back upon a boat. One should consider the strength they have, before capsizing a boat. Will you be able to pull yourself back up on that boat? Perhaps it would be a good idea to start doing push ups and core strengthening exercises so next summer you are confident in your abilities to capsize and re-right the boat.

All-in-all, it is illuminating to be around young courageous spirits. Most never have sailed before. Most look at me with total fear in their eyes. However, by the end of the week they have become friends with the wind, they have a new silent amazing assistant that is always ready to push them along the water.

Call it God’s breath, Mother Nature’s breath or the wind…What ever you call it—it is a glorious place to soar. It is heaven on earth.

(The graphic image I created with sacred geometry in mind. The “Vesica Pisces” is the eye shape, the steps are created with a square and a skewed square.)

Soaring beside you all!! Woooohooooooo!!! Life is AMAZING!!
