The Sacred Geometry River

The Sacred Geometry River

If I were to ask you what is sacred, what would you say?

I can finally stand and say one thing that I know for certain, without a doubt.

When you teach a child, you are forever changing the world.

I had to go back into teaching swimming at the YMCA to realize just how incredible the role of teaching is. The family is connected to you, woven into you through their desire for their child to be happy. You and the parents want the same, you desire for the child to thrive and flourish!

We are complicated, a kaleidoscope of emotions, ideas and desires. We are all connected here, by magical words that flow and float. The river washes away the old, the joy of learning and growing is what the seed of life is about.

That organic leaf shape, is the vesicle piscis, it is also called the fish bladder. I can’t help but grin at how the lesson over lay and swirl and whirl around me.

I am creating art work that I will offer as a reward for supporting my future kick- starter project. The first project will be a book.  I hope you all keep me in mind for the future.

My life project will be creating an ART school and healing center in Ireland. YES!! I have said it. I have planted the seed of the future here, with you. There will be a place for you to make art-- and stay. A place you can learn Reiki and learn to heal yourself. Ireland is a magical place, perfect for a healing arts center!

I look forward to 2016!!! May we all soar and shine!! Let us leave the negative behind. Let us find the connections that fling us into the sun!!

San Francisco Gathering

Having my daughter and son visit for Christmas was astounding. I had forgotten how they bounce off of one another, the positive energies ricocheting like old fashioned rubber balls. I was young with them here, laughing and singing and letting their love and light carry me along their bouncing bubbles of euphoric electricity.

The image of my son laughing, is when he decided to grab me and tell me to get closer. It was a spontaneous magical moment, it practically brings tears to my eyes…and I am so glad Margaret captured that special “Kodak” moment. We should all have Luvs, who grab us and pull us into them! Thank you David for that incredible unforgettable moment!

Star Wars was day one. I am vocal at the theater. If you hate going to a movie with someone who claps at great scenes, then please do not come with me. I clapped and yelled and wooooohooooo-ed at the great scenes. I loved every minute! The walk through the Stockton tunnel, was fabulous too! My daughter loves singing with me in that tunnel. If you hear crazy singing, it might just be me.

Christmas was fabulous! The books, the presents, ooooooooh the bracelet is stunning! (waving at Anita) and the shawl is perfect!!! (waving at Paddy)! Thank you Loves!

THEN ICE SKATING!!! Wooohoooooo! I am young at heart! I am 30 years old in my body, I demand much from myself. However, it has been 30 years since I have ice skated. Truthfully, I had forgotten how hard the ice is…It hurts to fall. However, no bones broken. Just a few bruises. David was my hero!! THANK you Dave for letting me hold on to you! (grinning) Sorry for making you fall. I am still laughing at the event!! Great fun! It was lovely seeing you and Margaret glide around the ice rink! LOVED it!!

Next day the ballet, the Nutcracker! If you have never ever seen a ballet, go to that one. The set designs were cleverly done! I was in awe! I want to design and build and create art for the theater! Just wow!  There is something magical about dancers, the way they lift and leap and make me feel as if I too can leap and soar. Dance is an incredible art, it requires MUCH from the artist…makes me feel like I too can become more.

After the play we went out for drinks. Margaret is of drinking age now. It was our first family visit to a bar. David, Margaret and I went to a place that a friend recommended…the drinks were yum-m-m-m-m-y! The special “Chinese whiskey” was fabulous!

The next day, we went to breakfast at my favorite bakery in San Francisco! The Victorian Pastry Bakery, oh my Lord! We all got something different, cannoli, strawberry short cake and chocolate eclair. We all took bites and our eyes rolled up into our head in deeeeeeelight!

We skipped over to the “City Lights” book store and spent hours perusing the lovely books. What a glorious bookstore! IF you love the old fashioned page turning book…then do yourself a favor and visit!

Then the pinnacle event, was eating at Mongolian Hot Pot. What fun!! They set a big pot of boiling broth right at the table and enjoy the experience of putting together the soup. You can decide on the type of broth you want to cook your food in, and then decide upon the ingredients that go into your lunch! We ate way too much and drank saki laughed and laughed! The scrumptious bubbly broth was amazing.

We drank lots of champagne — we became those euphoric  bubbles…soaring upward and making one another laugh with love. A great holiday! One for the record books!

2016 is going to ROCK and ROLL!

Red Cape

Original art by Judith Parsons 2015
I walk into the coliseum of my mind. The thinking men cheer when I walk in! Two men stand holding the red velvet cape and drape it over my shoulders. They take my arms and walk beside me to a table that is 50 feet in length. There are 25 candles lit, with glass hurricane lanterns to protect them from the night wind.

Every one stands up and starts clapping, Everyone of you is draped with your red velvet cape of royalty! We are all Kings and Queens here, in this space and place in my minds eye. we are ALL equal. The thinking men are also draped in their red velvet capes. Everyone is dressed to the nines. Tuxedoes and elegant gowns. Sparkling diamonds and studded cuff links are reflecting the candle light. The silverware and china reflect the gorgeous flickering candles.

You are beautiful, when you smile. I can see you. Yes, you. I wink and grin, and we both nod. Thank you for loving this place Dear. Thank you for asking that I come back here. I have missed the thinking men of the coliseum.

I see all of you! Thank you for being here in my minds coliseum. My beloved sisters and brothers of Love! I see my best tree climbing friend and her family, all my church choir friends, my high school friends, the women who run with the wolves friends, my long time military connected friends, artist friends, the welding and blacksmith friends, the glass artist friends, the mold making friends…and my new Facebook loves!

What a glorious gathering in my minds eye. I raise my champagne flute and salute you all! You have worked hard on becoming your best self. You have persisted and kept working at becoming your highest self. It is a work in progress…it is. There is nothing that comes easy, without much hard and diligent work. I respect you, because you work hard.

SO tonight we play hard! We strike up band…we dance and swirl and we laugh.

I adore you sweet friends! The thinking men adore you too! (grinning) 2016 is going to rock!! We are all connected in Love and Light!

Wooohoooooooo!!! Soaring…singing…sashaying…smiling and shining beside you all!!

Woman

Original art by Judith Parsons 2015
Do not use without permission
What a fun filled day yesterday! I was in the pool with little young beginner swimmers that went from not wanting to put their face in the water—to them wanting to sit upon the bottom of the pool. Then I headed to my favorite artist, tool God and played with metal.
WhewWeeeee….

Grinning!

I started with the design you see…It started with a simple “wo-man” concept. The center of the o was the bullseye. The center for rotation. The “W” spins around the “O” creating and joining the two different words. Making them one.

Megan Larman got married yesterday. I have seen photographs and imagine it was a magical memory making day. Two young loves joined. I remember years ago, the young lovers beside the bon fire. It is nice to see them becoming one, together. Man and woman love enough to make the commitment of marriage. Congratulations sweet young Loves! May you talk! Talk! TALK! May you always spew out your pains to one another so the vulnerabilities stay between you both.

The lines between man and woman have blurred over the years. The ideas and roles of who stays home with the children and who leaves the house is an interesting shifting scenario. What we were 10 years ago we are no longer.

The graphic image tries to become steps, but these steps aren’t rigid. They are skewed and warped and weaving and waving and flowing into themselves. The man and woman flowing as we all cross borders wanting the same glorious love.

Enjoy the flow today. Play the music. GO find a friend to play in the garage with, to bend metal and hammer out art with. Or just play music and dance!!! Enjoy!!!

Wooooohooooo!!! Life really is grand!!

Happy Lunar New Year! Merry Christmas! Much Love!

The calling child.

The illustration is one line drawn to create a path of curves to suggest the mother holding a baby. I am a mother, it is a role that brings out the mother lioness in me. It is a sacred energy that drives me beyond my mundane other self.

She, the mother in me.
Holds her self to a higher standard. The regular me is left in the dust where my children, are concerned.

The mother in me, is a giant. “She” is when I become the highest self that I am always searching for. “She/me” are like old friends laughing and hugging because I am home when I am a mom.

It is a reunion with my best self. In 4 days my children will be with me. The room is small, the accommodations not anything they are used to. It will be sort of like camping out, with out the woods.

I have stood watching my daughter walk to catch her plane. I have screamed through the airport, at the top of my lungs:  “I love you-u-u-u-u-u-!” And she has screamed back:”I love you to-o-o-o-o-o-o!” It is a ache that family shares. The love of our little ones, is what makes life extra special. They do not necessarily have to be born from us. We become their care takers, we become their back up plan, we become love.

I am preparing my wee nest for the visit. I am sure it will be one we never ever forget. Life is about that special connect, with a young one that looks up to you. May your holiday season connect you to a very special wee one.

May their laughter become yours. (hugging you tight)

Not Complicated

Dance lessons, new software, facing new fears…The energy of new things takes time to settle.

Life is about facing your fears. Letting someone show you how to dance, letting them guide you through a new process of movement. Living full-on means facing your fears.

I have a new contact I want to make and I am striding in my minds eye back and forth like the caged lion, wondering about it…

Wondering about her. I will let the energy settle and know that when the time is right, when I have the amount of time to give to her…then I will do so.

There is no panic in life. There is plenty of loving light and energy to spread over all of us, to calm us like a warm blanket out of the dryer. I am smiling now, as I see the lion sitting with a blanket draped around his body…his eyes heavy and about to snuggle into his warm blanket of love.

(grinning)

This morning my adobe software codes all needed to be updated. Two years ago I remember being in a panic and ricocheting off the walls because I had to go through a sequence of events to redeem my subscription. Oh Lordy mercy, I was a mess, I was scared that I wouldn’t have my beloved photoshop, illustrator and after effects to create in.

This year, I knew what the issue was. I knew who to call, how to handle and solve the equation that was blocking my use of Adobe products. I called the help desk, went through the sequence and created the art you are seeing now.

I am happy to report that I am more centered and grounded, after have 2 years at graduate school. There is a ebb and flow now, a easy “knowing” that eventually I will solve the problem that arises. I don’t fall off the deep end anymore.

So dance with your fears…Imagine the lion with blanket draped over his shoulders, standing up on his hind legs, his front paws on your shoulder…I am laughing at the image. It is all good, all God. We are all one…loving and living in the purest light.

Calm, grounded and settled.

Wooohoooooooooo!!! Life is amazing!! Love you all!

Hawk messenger

Illustration created by Judith Parsons. 2015. The photo of the hawk rotated to create awesome wreath of feathers.
The messenger. Yesterday as I was walking to school, down Columbus, I looked up at St. Peter and St. Paul's cathedral beside Union park. The bells were ringing, it was 2 o’clock and I could not believe my eyes. A huge hawk was perched upon the steeple. I stopped and stared.
The bells were ringing and I was in awe.
It is rare to see hawks in the city. The messenger, it was a great sign for me. Things are all coming together…to-get-her. I love that word.

Last night coming home on the bus, a woman was standing waiting for the bus with me. She was an artist in Hawaii, she came back to San Francisco for the culture. We shared briefly our journeys. She asked me why I was here, I told her about my quest to find myself, through acquiring my Masters in Sculpture. We both laughed about that statement. Originally she was waiting on the 8 bus, I told her it was a few blocks down. I usually catch that one when I do a grocery run. So she joined me upon the bus. She pulled out a post card and handed it to me. It was a print of a fish, she made art for 40 years. She asked me to call her, that it was hard to find older artist women in the city. I totally agreed!

I will call her. She is interesting, intriguing. Life is a wonderful mystery.

Take chances with life, listen to your heart, reach out and love a little. It is okay to love lots of people. It is okay to to sing and sashay—shine and s-o-a-r!

The hawk is the messenger of good things to come. There is magic in the air. There is much to be thankful for. When the bells toll...look up...see magic.

Birthday wish

Can you see the birthday candles?
Perhaps it is a bit much.
Original illustration and photograph by
Judith Parsons 2015
If you know me, then you know my birthday wish. It is the same: “May all your birthday candle wishes come true. Happy Birthday.”

My mother was great about making me feel extra special on my ONE day of the year. She would put a bow upon my chair, and I had a special chair all day long. She made what ever we loved for dinner, and we ALWAYS had a birthday cake with candles. I try to make sure the people I love get cake that we can put candles in.

There is something incredible about wishing upon a candle. To have another person sing the birthday song is an extra bonus, however…Even if you are alone, You MUST get yourself a cake or cupcake, and put a candle in it. YOU must!!

You see, the angels have told me, there is a special place for birthday candle wishes in the magical world of wishes and Love. The highest part of you, the part that has kept you going, kept you smiling, and kept you intuitive -- really wants to wish with you. She/He will whisper along with you, insuring that your wishes come true!

My girl-friend in Ireland had a birthday today. All day long I thought about her and wished for her some extra special loving. And I was thrilled to learn that her marvelous family visited her and stopped in to wish her a happy birthday. It makes my heart warm and happy to know they cared.

(smiling sigh) Thank you!!!! Woooooohooooooo!! I love and adore your family!

The angel with the rose wreath around her head was really happy!! She had found her home!! There is exquisite energy in sharing another’s birthday. To give a gift that reminds us of Love. We are blessed to share in the candle ceremony with another. It strengthens our safety net of love. We are stronger for it.

I can see her closing her eyes for a brief second, making her wish…and then smiling. I can see her blowing out the candles…Even though I am in San Francisco, and she is half way around the world. I can see the smoke rise, the wishes riding the smoke, the smoke tickling the the feet of God…and God grinning and granting her the wishes she asked for.

We are all connected!! Love is action…Love is doing… Love is amazing.

Rich Highflights

Original art by Judith Parsons 2015
Highflight by John Gillespie Magee

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth

of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things

You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung

High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,

I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung

My eager craft through footless halls of air....

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue

I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace.

Where never lark, or even eagle flew —

And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod

The high untrespassed sanctity of space,

Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.”

You know we are all connected. Whilst drawing the graphic, you see…I was listening to PBR and the political writer referred to this poem. I stopped what I was doing and smiled. Thank you universe for patting me upon the head.

Little signs along the way. Tell me I am going in the right direction.

I am excited about life!

Everything really is relative sweet Loves. Go without a car for a while, carry your groceries on a bus. Do without for a day or two. Get a taste of how rich you are. Appreciate the simple things.

You are rich!

I am your wild card!

In the business world, there is always a person who is the
“go to”
person. The person that seems to think upon a realm so “out of the box” that you are confident when you bring your problem to her... She will give you so many potential solutions that your head is swimming with what to do.

I am your thinking outside of the box,
“heaven on earth” solution.

Come, (patting space beside me) lets discuss what
I can do
for
you.

You nod, gulp, and we both smile at one another.

Let us get down to the heart of the challenge. What exactly would you like to do? Lets define the issue - let us ask the questions so thoroughly that you really know what you desire.

Only when we KNOW all that we want to —can we look for the answers.

It is as simple as looking for the buried treasure. We just look. We know it is out there..so we get the metal detector and search.

The problem arises when we don’t “Know” what we are searching for. It is quintessential to asses and evaluate what you desire.

Everybody on Facebook is looking for Love in all the wrong places. I am going to hold a mirror up and ask you a personal question. Look at yourself as you are now, would you go out on a date with you?

If you hesitated at all- then you might want to work on you a bit. I am taking the next year to become stronger in every way. I am going to work on my muscles, and yoga and swimming. When I go for the job interview in a year- I want to be the most exquisite “whoa” that walks in the room.

I am creating art to use for my business cards, and my book. I am going to start a kick-started project and ask for your support toward publishing a book. Yep. We are all connected together. We are friends and loves and all of us WANT more. So give me more.

Enough sitting on the sofa drinking your beer, complaining…Start writing out your list of what your buried treasure looks like. You are stunning. You are strong. Well, you used to be. You have forgotten yourself lately.

Come on, let me assist and help motivate you to be all you can be. This is the time Love, I am gearing up for making art in Italy! I am gearing up for a magnificent job. Right now, I have not a clue who I will work for…I don’t know who I will be working for… However I plan to be with  a million dollar company earning a six-digit income.

In a year, you will want me.You will.

The Real Secret

Original art by Judith Parsons 2015
There are a group of artist
That
never
age
The doctors couldn't explain it
But we know the secret

In our heart we share the ink of one another
The ink blood and energy and light
The Trinity we share daily as we love
One another
The past, present and future
The religious walls came down
The love flows over the river banks
Flooding the pages with love

Magical spells we swim in
Mystical connections that crossed all realms
Keep us forever young

The doctor asked me why I was living so long
I smiled and met his eyes
“We are all planning to meet one day…”

It just hasn’t happened yet.

Connected teaching peace

I found the design of the words on facebook...it was a
photograph of "teach peace" on a white wooden wall.
I took the idea and recreated it using photoshop.
Art by Judith Parsons 2015.
Goood morning Beautiful and Wise Friends! Picture me pulling you into my arms for a huge swaying hug. Feel my arms wrapped around you and we are standing for a moment in the warm sunlight. The breeze is perfect and we are perfect. Just for a second or two let yourself breathe in a hug…Let your shoulders relax as you know you are loved.
Just relax and sigh…and melt in the sun for a moment…and smile.

Smile at the power of the mind…at the power of imagination…at the power of connected-ness. The energy of Facebook is astounding. We willing are able to slurp coffee on opposite sides of the United States (or the world) and connect. While you are reading this I am on the other side of the computer screen—sipping coffee….okay…”slurping” really is the word needed to describe my half asleep morning routine.

I awakened extra early and went scrolling strolling through Facebook lane…And I saw some incredible post on Margaret Keelan’s (waving) wall…and then I found a friend of hers, who is also an artist…and I went strolling scrolling through her wall. Her name is Stella Strippeypants (waving)…AND I found some incredible posts on her wall…and I have shared them on my wall…and we became friends.

This is Shelley's cool wall: CLICK here

This image: “Teach Peace” came from those connections this morning. I connected the dots, followed my heart…followed the dots…connected them all…I was so inspired that I created this awesome piece of art work. I then took that art work and swirled it…I am on a swirling kick lately…(chuckling at that thought)

The swirling spinning twirling dervish of graphic design…(smiling at that silly image in my head) I am an artist…I write, I ramble, I connect the dots … and I hug lots of folks…and I believe LOVE is changing as we change…As we connect all over the world—the love we share spills out from out finger tips…our lives are changing because of these incredible connects.

You.
You are wonderful that you are reading these words. I adore the heck out of you for reading my words. In fact, I am going to send you something…I haven’t figured it out yet…However, I will send you a gift…of some sort—just for reading my words today…Just because.

Send me an e-mail: JudithSecondArtist@gmail.com
Please on the subject line put “blog connect” and if you really want something—send me your snail mail address…
It will be something I made…

And it gives me an idea of who reads my blogs—or linked in ramblings….
I adore you guys—-I really do!!

What a fabulous hugger you are!! (grinning) I adore hugs!!

See you later!!!! Wooooooohoooooooooooo!!! Life is amazing!!

Over and over again

Original art by Judith Parsons 2015
Yes, I know it is not perfect...life is like that sometimes.
Sometimes, we have holes (holy) ...some times life
comes out of left field...It just is...The eyes have it.
Over and over again.
I have been writing a blog for the 2 years I have been attending graduate school. I started writing to first, see if I could. Then second, to improve as a writer. I am blessed to have you all read me. You comment and put a thumbs up. And along the way I have fallen in love over and over again.

I love people who put themselves out here. The open book sort of folks- you know, you have seen the Facebook posts about how we take photos of our meals, what we have been creating, our pets…and then they complain that this isn’t a normal relationship. They make judgements that say we should not walk up to someone on the street and blurt out all we have done in the last 5 hours.

I say, go right ahead. Tell me all that you have done, all that you want…I will slurp my coffee on this side of my screen while you slurp your coffee. Then there will be days that I complain about a cold and feel like crap-o-la-cola…and you might not hear about that, just because I hate complaining out loud. I suffer in silence mostly. Well—there are one or two folks that hear my poor-pitiful me cries. But, generally speaking I try to keep my post on the up beat side.

It is the way of the world, selfies and instant photos and videos capturing the good, the bad and the ugly. We are crossing borders in every way. The color of ones skin doesn’t matter as much as your negative posts and your over all energy.

In the end, we all bleed the same color blood. It is a simple ideal notion. We are all one. We can be. Yes, there are those that are savage hateful horrible people, maybe there will always be. I can pray that one day, even they will see the light— maybe when they hold their child in their arms, maybe then they will look far ahead down futures path and realize the killing must stop.

Sorry, didn’t mean to preach.

We are all magnificent light reflecting off our mirrored hearts. We can gather and combine in love and light, and become more. Stronger and better everyday. Looking toward and forward a safe and serene place for our future babies.

May you find a warm sunny spot today to melt in the light.
May your highest self hold you and caress you and heal you.

May we all fall in love with one another over and over again.

Day 62 New Beginnings- Water Tree

Original art by Judith Parsons 2015.
New Beginnings.

As we move toward the longest night, the energy has been shifting and settling.

You see yourself walking down a path in the woods, you get to the secret door that leads downward.

The wooden door is heavy and the hinges are squeaky, however you manage to get it open.

You have your torch at hand and you have taken the steps before, you know it takes a while to get to the basement…And you know when you get there-- there will be your love waiting with a fire in the hearth.

You endure the cold, the darkness. You know the steps to get to where you need to go. You have learned patience. You have matured in your knowing, you are wise enough to know what NOT to partake of. You know what assists you in your life. All these “knowings” have quieted your soul.

You have done much work to get exactly where you are. You nod to yourself as you step downward. Sure there is much work to be done, but you can see the paths that lead to the completion. For now, you rest. You journey home, to where you can lay back and place your head in a compassionate lap. You yearn for the cool hand upon your brow and soft caress upon your face.

Rest. All the hurt of the past is done. All the old is behind you. You have suffered through it to learn the word: “now.”

You have done all that needs to be done and can relax now. You are healing and becoming better and stronger for all the work you have done.

You step off the last step and are at the door of home. You turn the knob and see the golden light flickering its coppery dance upon the walls. You can smell the fragrant inhaling scents that make you smile. You hear the music in the kitchen and pots and pans being moved about.

Far away you hear the wind howl, it nods her approval of your arrival of you. Welcome home, to your heart and hearth. You are love!

Synchronicity

Art of Judy Hurley and John Thompson!!
How awesome to meet the read dear!!!

Synchronicity

At the bus stop on Stockton, right before the tunnel I spot an older couple. The man is very caring and empathetic toward his wife, he helps her sit down and then he fetches her a bottled root beer. It is cold, unusually cold, and I am regretting leaving my toasty warm little nest.

The woman asked me how long I have lived in San Francisco and I tell her briefly about my quest to finish my MFA. She brightened up and smiled and told me that she too was an artist, and that her husband was too. A few buses came and I brushed them off, eager to hear more about these really awesome folks.

We asked what mediums and I finally located a pen and paper so she could write down her husband’s name. She said look up John Thompson the psychedelic artist. And he kept telling me about his wife, that her work was just as good- or better.

He gingerly took her hand and they walked arm in arm toward the Stockton tunnel. I waved and finally caught my bus. When I got home, I looked them up and I about fainted. There two people are incredible artist!!
I am stunned by their portfolio of art work! They have lived lives as artist that most of us hunger and yearn for! I was blessed by this incredible alignment of space and time. Was this a mere coincidence? Nope. It was synchronicity at its best! It was a fabulous star alignment!

I would love to re-connect and meet them in Carmel, walk along the beach and help them tell their story! Stunning artists! Wooooohoooooo!!!

Life is amazing!

Power

Original one-of-a-kind art by Judith Parsons 2015
Power

Where does it reside?  Where does it come from? Is it a small ember waiting to be ignited into an inferno? Does the character of power wait until you are strong enough to handle him/her before he steps up to give you a taste of what you will for ever hunger for?

Power.

The wild horse that we ride bareback upon. Our hair flowing and the wind making us crazy for more. There is a strong wild energy wanting to come forward in all of us. A confident strong backed soul who ask you to work for him/her.

Power.

It is a powerful feeling when you know you look and feel good. There is much power in beauty and strength. There is no shame in wanting to look and feel better. However, there is much work to be done in order to achieve this goal.

The power to say “no” to yourself. One must have discipline. We live in a world where snacks, sugar and fast food is within reach twenty four hours a day. Just because it is there, doesn’t mean we should partake of it. Having the power to say “no”…is a tremendous power.

Ask your highest self what you desire? Is it love? Do you love yourself enough to present your best self to the world? Are you waiting around for some hot smoking partner to love you? Are you that hot smoking partner? It is a two way street, this love, this wanting to be better in all ways.

Take your powerful self out of the dusty box in the cob web of your mind and have a talk with yourself. Are you all that you want to be? If no, I suggest you get busy.

That is all.

Soaring with Nancy.

Original illustration by Judith Parsons 2015

Todays blog brought to you by my niece Nancy, (waving) Thank you for commissioning this work.

Mary Oliver’s poem is stunning, I penciled in the words, and read over every single line. As one pens words to reproduce by hand, the words take on their own shape and form. The words step out of their context and become more.

This line:
“ You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.”

Walks up to me in person form, this is what my highest self would look like, if she were words.

The poem is amazing.

Wild Geese
by Mary Oliver

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about your despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting --
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

The art of stopping time

Image from google images
Stop watch photograph turned into illustration.
Created by Judith Parsons 2015

Stopping Time

The illustration is made from a stop watch. All too soon we look over our shoulder at all the things we were going to do…and we have let that time slip through our hands.

I thought I would be a great mom and aunt to my children, nieces and nephews. It is up to me to connect and cultivate with family members. As I see it, my Aunts did the best they could connecting and reaching out to family. I wish I had spent more time loving them.

We can easily get so busy dealing with our own existence, our faces downward dealing with the demands of the day that we forget to reach out to other family members. I totally understand this, as I am guilty of it.

Love is a verb. Love is doing. Love is taking action- stopping time, picking up the telephone and reaching out to people you know and love.

I belong to some healing tribes, and they make the point to connect to the lost tribe members once a year. They have a pot-luck gathering so that all the members of the healing group can share their healing experiences. It is a fun gathering with all sorts of stories, icy cold hot hands and family members showing up are always a part of the gathering.

When I have a gallery, I will have all the people that have bought my paintings and sculptures over for a open house, once a year. To thanks them for allowing my art, my energy in their home. We ARE all connected! We are energy ebbing and flowing into one another’s life.

Stop time, stop and think on the people you need to connect with. Call them, hug them and be a part of healing time.

Love you…soaring beside you.

Stopping Time.

If you are an older person you will remember the famous song: “Time in a bottle” by Jim Croche.

Here are the lyrics:

If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save every day
'Til eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you

If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure and then,
Again, I would spend them with you

But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go
Through time with

If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory
Of how they were answered by you

But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go

Through time with

Smelling ghosts!

Original photograph and art by Judith Parsons 2015
Smelling ghost

Yesterday was an incredible day! There was a fabulous 4 month old labrador puppy to help entertain us as we gathered to celebrate Thanksgiving. Then there were two 16 year old young adults to enlighten on the Humanity of Life.

It was a fresh day, it had rained earlier in the week and everything about the day was clean and clear and breathe-able. The puppy was sniffing the scents, the nose hard at work when Bob (waving) said; “She is smelling ghost.”

Aw-w-w-w-w…The perfect book title! we both laughed, because he knew I would use that as fodder for todays blog! (grinning) You are right Bob. (still waving)!

Thanksgiving for me was always a time to pull out the family china, sterling silver, and crystal engraved goblets. No paper plates for me. I would light candles and polish the candelabra and find the table cloth Aunt Peggy gave me. Thanksgiving was the time to make oyster dressing and drink champagne. It was a time for all the family to gather. I can still hear my dad in Aunt Peggy’s kitchen, he had a loud booming voice. I could hear Aunt Peggy and Aunt Caroline laughing at my father’s banter.

Yesterday was a fabulous day for pulling out the china and enjoying laughter again.

When Bob took the turkey off the grill, the wonderful scents took me back to all my family gatherings. To Aunt Peggy’s with all the young nephews and nieces about, to my own Louisiana grilled turkeys. I could see all the ghost of Thanksgiving past walking by. They were rubbing my back, and kissing me on the cheek. The wind picked up at that moment, the spirits were supporting and loving me…It was a wonderful day for “smelling ghosts!”

Thank you Bob for a glorious gathering!! Family—we got to get our gatherings back on!

Playing in the mud.

Original art by Judith Parsons 2015
There is a photograph of me sitting at the pottery wheel, throwing a pot. I am in Jeanette Murray’s (waving)  pottery studio playing with mud! I wish for all of you a friend that you can play in the mud with!! When we are together playing —we are like 6 year old girls, laughing and giggling! Thank you Jen for taking this photo!! Man-oh-man it reminds me of good times!

I took the photograph, took my arms, the clay and part of the wheel and made todays graphic image.

I seem to be taking ordinary photographs and taking elements from those photos and putting my spin on them. (grinning)

Perhaps when I finish my mFA I will take the ordinary photos and place them in a book with the illustrations, so you can see how far the piece of art changed before it became itself.

We are all doing that in life, we are all taking the best elements of ourselves and putting our own spin on it. The swirling dervish truly is my art these days. Next spring I will be taking pottery on the wheel. It is an old friend, the wheel. It was the thing I feel madly in love with when I was at Armstrong State college 36 years ago. I spent all day, 12 hour days flinging mud and learning the ways of the wheel.

I am already thinking about making molds and creating art with clay and glass. Oh there is so much art to be made!

Heading out to finish a mold I did not finish last night!
Have a great Thanksgiving holiday! Play music- enjoy the preparations!!
Wooohooooooo!!

Life is amazing!

Thanksgiving Oppossum

Illustration created by Judith Parsons
You do not have to defend
your right to be!

I am relating the lesson of the opossum. The book is “Medicine Cards” by Jamie Sans and David Carson. It is a wealth of information about animals and what they mean from the Native American perspective. Carson and Sams explain that the strategy of opossum can be used when life gets a little too hard to handle.

“Use your instincts for the best way out of a tight corner. If you have to pretend to be apathetic or unafraid, do it. Often times if you refuse to struggle or show that hurtful words bother you, your taunter will see no further fun in the game.”

The holidays can be a challenge. We are expected and required to sit down and share a traditional turkey with people who are not always the easiest to handle. The alcohol starts flowing and Lordy mercy, the inhibitors that once were in place fall away and all sorts of hurts happen.

It is sad to think people are still cruel and mean and ugly. I don’t understand it. You would think this negative person would get a clue and change his/her ways. However, there are some folks who only know negative because they grew up in a home saturated in negative oozing mess. They are a reflection of their past. When this sad soul crosses your path, you can use the lesson of the opossum to play dead, and plan your escape.

I created the graphic using the italic words,” You don’t have to defend your right to be.”  It is a glorious statement. I love that we are growing and learning to own our stuff. The only person you need to deal with is you. YOU, know in your heart if something is working for you. YOU, know in your heart how you feel about a certain situation. Take time and relax about it. Take time for you, to “play dead” to be still and silent and consider if you are where you want to be, if you are who you want to be.

I hope you are with people who cherish you over your holiday. I hope you are beside folks that meet your sparkling eyes and match your smile.

May the family gatherings be marvelous and magical. Happy Thanksgiving Sweet Friends!

Cast Your Spells Carefully!

Original one-of-a-kind art from one of a kind artist.
Judith Parsons 2015

She held her words against her chest. Like playing cards, she knew when to lay them upon the table. SHE was a master at words. She knew exactly what to say, how to say it…how to raise her voice and how to whisper.
She k-n-e-w exactly how to cast her spells.

I watched her from afar.

I wondered what she would say to the impressionable wanting one. I knew that she knew. We all knew the powers of words.

Words are powerful, we spell them with fingertips clicking along the keys…casting spells to mesmerize and thrill.

Words form people. They become ghostly at first, standing in you peripheral vision, just out of reach. You give them life, you write them into your script. Or you cast them aside. You can see yourself ripping the paper from the old fashioned type writer, the rolling mechanism making its one of a kind sound. You fling the paper over your shoulder, distraught because the words are responding the way you desire.

The words come alive. Your emotion created them as soon as you cast them aside. They are forming, into that person you wanted to bring to life. It takes longer than the words that you are giving your attention to…However, that cast away piece of thought is there…forming…rising off the paper of memory, becoming a spell.

I stand in the archway, this magical place alive with words… sipping my hot beverage- the steam from my mug flows upward and dances over to meet the words “mysterious” …they swirl around one another and become the word, “passion”.  Then they slide around me, caressing me with their magical abilities. I chuckle and that laughter transforms into smoky delicious feathers.

This, makes me laugh even more…the words know me. I walk over to you, handing you one of the feathers, which you dip in magical ink. The other feather I caress your jaw line with. You smile, you glance at your quill and one magical drop of ink falls upon the paper of life.

The ink forms you.

Spell Caster leaps

"You are your OWN spell caster"
Art created by Judith Parsons 2015

Two statements as flowing through my head now:
1.) You are your own spell caster.

That is the image you see…I took those words and swirled them around to create a jumbled graphic image…it is on purpose the confusion of the letters, the over lapping colors, and then in the center a circle.

“You are your”…are the words that you can read. Then all the letters over lap. The  words “Own Spell Caster “ is lost in and amongst itself. We get lost too. We think we can simply make a vision board, that we can dream big and all the pieces will fall into place. Then one is left with this very colorful poster board with cut outs and wants and dreams.

Then life happens, people get sick, people get tired and while you are dreaming and planning all the other family members etc. are running interference with your big plans. You peddle harder, you work harder, you put more time into your studies and you are trusting in the big universe to give you the great assist.

2.) Statement two, by Jim Carey: “Hope walks through the fire—faith leaps over it.”

You believe and have faith. You keep working, keep connecting…using social media to give you lots of lovely friends. THEN this occurs to me.

There was a young woman who was an art student years ago. She came up to me after class and asked if she could have some colored pencils. It was a simple request, heck, I had tons, so I gave her the pencils. No big deal- right? Well…hang on a minute. THE BIG DEAL was she asked for something that she could have received a “no” response from.

It took a courage for her to ask. And I admire that back bone. It takes some courage today to be an artist. It is not for the soft tender hearted. It takes lots of work to create art and to get it out there for all to see.

Then it takes the asking: “Will you purchase my art?”

I am casting spells with these words, I am hopeful that I have just magically mesmerized you and you are ready to write me a massive check for a piece of art. I am grinning at that thought. Though, truth be told it is a strange dance between the artist and the buyer. How much to ask for something you spent hours working on, one does not want to give it away…yet…the creator wants her art out in the world. The creator wants her art to have a nice home and to feel valued.

The energy unfurls…wings are born…we have lift-off! The Spell-caster L-E-A-P-S!

Magnolia Mentor!

I took the images from google and combined them to create
this composition. By Judith Parsons

Magnolia mentor!

It is amazing how an image can comfort, how it can bring back experiences and make you sigh and swoon in the space of your memories. I was raised in the south, outside of Savannah, GA. My grandma lived downtown on the corner of Abercorn and Taylor. The magnolias were something I took for granted, I thought the whole wide world enjoyed the magnificent bloom. And gardenias—Oooooooooh Lordy mercy that scent floods my mind and I am a young girl again.

I have been thinking about the future, where do I go after San Francisco? I have had 30 years creating graphics and designing advertising layouts. Then add a Masters in Fine Art.

I am thinking about family and friends, as that is a huge draw to be with people who know you. Connects and contacts are already established. There is a magnificent school, SCAD, that I am certain I can find some sort of employment.

Then other wild thoughts and images come into play. Wonderful risky thoughts, like starting an art school in Ireland! Or teaching art to Oprah, Deepak and Ms. Gilbert. Showing them how time can stop when one is truly creating and lost within the muse wit clay upon their hands.

One must think highly of their abilities, one must “know” and be certain of what they can and can not do. Almost a year from now I will be finished with my course work in San Francisco. Will the school have a new class that I might be able to teach? (shrugging) Who knows, we have had a huge shift in the fine arts department. Anything is possible.

Margaret Keelan was sitting with us today as we created art. She said, one must love the process of making art. THAT is the reward, that is why we do what we do. I looked at her, our eyes connecting, and I agreed. And her words slid over me, covering me in a blanket of wonderfulness.
It has stayed with me all day.

I am blessed to be creating art, to have the privilege to make art for 12 hours!

The magnolia memories and the marvelous mentor! What a glorious day!

Beautiful nothing.

Original art created by Judith Parsons 2015

I started drawing a face, did the left side. then created the lips. I duplicated the left side, creating a strange face with eyes too close, and merged the layers and then duplicated that.
Photoshop is keeping track of layers, there is no other way around it. Taking the time to initially label your layers carefully saves one a lot of heart ache later.

I will be glazing art work today. The vest IS coming along gloriously. The pieces of it all fit together in a puzzle sort of 3 dimensional waistcoat. I am thrilled with the process. It has taken making a mold upon which I could build another piece. I love how clever and complicated the piece is.

Have a blessed day!
The image does look kind of brain like.

Playing the music…moving with the beat. Shaking my hips out the door…woooohoooooooo!

She has whip in hand...

The top image is from the book "Chiaroscuro"
The blue image was created by
Judith Parsons 2015

3 years ago I did a horse doodle for someone. I am sorry that I can not remember exactly who I did the horse for. (Waving) However, I came across this image from a book called: “Chiaroscuro” it is one of my all time favorite words. I love everything about it, the way it rolls off the tongue, and the meaning of it. I will not tell you the meaning, so you will look it up and then forever know it. It will be lodged into your mind and every time you think of it— you will connect the dots back to me and chuckle to yourself.
(grinning) I should hope at least you just remember what it is.

Anyhow, I came across this wood cut image. And I sat there stunned. As I have never seen this image before, and I was freaked out a little, because here was the image that I had created a few years back. (It is giving me chill bumps telling you about it.) Except that this image was created in 1518.

So, (raised eyebrows) amazing connects of images and things created…ages ago. I have just spend an hour going through old stick drives, looking for the scan of the doodle. I made certificates for all the sold pieces, and thought I could reach back 3 years and find the drawing. (sighing) I can’t. I am sorry. It was a horse with a rider dressed in armor mounted upon the horse.

I found all sorts of old photos. Photos of a camp ground and river that I adored. Photos of people who are shadow memories in my life. Photos of Thanksgiving in a house that was not finished, with friends I still cherish and adore.
I went looking for one thing, and started looking at old memories from another life time ago.

I was not right then.
I am holding up my hands in total surrender.

Rost, Margaret, David, Mimi, Arvin, Dennis, and Cora…all these people showed up in those captured kodak memories. I did not have the word “discipline” as a part of who I was. Nope. Nada.

I hid away in those foggy layers…deep down upon the bottom of the ocean. I stayed down there. I am not sure why…Maybe it was so I could be brave enough to travel to San Francisco and continue on with my graduate degree. I am shaking my head at who I was.

I was like Linus, in a foggy cloud of dusty reality.

I now ask the disciplined woman to come to the fore front. She lives in Italy, she has a whip in hand, she has on a flowing black pair of slacks that looks like a skirt as she stands still…She has on a white blouse, cut low, pearls on, her bosom is gorgeous, her back is straight…and she is DISCIPLINED.

She is not tolerating the foggy life. She wants to tell the folks in the past: “Sorry. Perhaps we can share a cup of coffee one day.”

She doesn’t have time for doing things half-way any more. She is full-on, making HUGE changes, re-branding herself.

Pirouettes of art

Original art created by Judith Parsons 2015

When I was a little girl my grandmother took me to see the play, The Nutcracker. The music always takes me back to the people running from underneath the woman’s skirt. I can see the characters and see the stage in my minds eye.

It was the first big art production of my life. The colors of the costumes and the music made it an incredible event. I am certain it helped mold me into the artist I am today.

I will not go off the deep end on today verses fifty years ago. However, please if you are a grandparent plan to take your grandchild to see the play. Take them while they are young. While they can still be impressed with the sets and costumes. These days, with computer animation, it is difficult to top the special affects our children see. Though, if they are young, they really might come away wide-eyed and amazed with the dancers who leap across the stage with no wires attached…no green screen special effect.

I created the little geometric shape half Nutcracker, duplicated him and rotated him to create the art you see.

There is much to be said for swirling in circles, dancing, pirouettes of art.
